Project DULCE (Developmental Understanding and Legal Collaboration for Everyone)

Project DULCE addresses social determinants of health and promotes the healthy development of infants from birth to six months at Highland Hospital’s Pediatric Department. A partnership with East Bay Community Law Center, the pilot is one of the Center for the Study of Social Policy’s five sites nationally.

DULCE adds a family specialist to the pediatric care team to support families by connecting them to home visits, legal consultation and resources that support healthy child development,

Program components:

  • STRENGTHEN families by providing extra support during the critical first six months of life
  • EDUCATE parents on child development, answer development and behavioral questions
  • CONNECT families to legal support in partnership with the East Bay Community Law Center
  • PROVIDE home visits and telephone check-ins for families that want them
