The Blue Ribbon Commission on early childhood education was created during the 2016-17 Budget in an effort to strategically plan improvements to the underfunded and struggling early learning system. The ultimate goal is to provide more services to needy families and kids across the state through a sustainable system. The Assembly is using this group as a platform to discuss ways to improve the early learning system in California and put the ideas into action to inform future policy and budget actions.
Come make your voice heard about ways to improve the early childhood system by attending this hearing!  

2018 COUNTY BALLOT INITIATIVE LISTENING SESSIONS

An early care and education coalition wants to hear YOUR IDEAS on a potential June 2018 ballot initiative that will raise $140 million to make quality early child care a reality for all families.

OAKLAND 2018 BALLOT INITIATIVE

Oakland leaders and community members are coming together to explore a potential November 2018 ballot initiative that would expand access and quality of preschool, as well as support students through high school, college, and career success through the Oakland Promise. Learn more about, give input, and get involved. 

  • Monday, November 13 at 5:30PM to accommodate the calendars of educators and families at the San Antonio Fruitvale Senior Center.

Here at First 5, we’re thrilled at the momentum around early childhood issues. We’re looking forward to giving our perspectives at these listening sessions and even more excited to hear the ideas, perspectives, and experiences of other stakeholders in the early childhood field.
