In December, we published the 2025 Data for Action Guide, as part of the agency’s Annual Report.

This guide provides a variety of data points highlighting demographics within Alameda County, the county’s high cost of living, and the challenges facing families with young children in our community. The data can be used to inform programming, investment, and policy advocacy for First 5, community-based organizations, and other public agencies, and can provide key context for local leaders and decision-makers.

“The Data for Action Guide is a vital tool for our community, offering a comprehensive snapshot of our county. It highlights the demographics of young children and their families, sheds light on the financial realities they face and examines their health and well-being,” said Director of Data and Evaluation Laura Schroeder, who supported this project. “By exploring access to child care and other critical resources, the guide paints a clear picture of the conditions affecting families with young children. This invaluable resource empowers policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders to make informed decisions, drive meaningful change, and shape policies that support the needs of our youngest residents and their families.”
