Funding Opportunities
Alameda County Child Care Provider Grant Program Reopens
The Alameda County Board of Supervisors (BOS), the County Administrator's Office, and the Alameda County Social Services Agency (ACSSA) are introducing a new funding opportunity to provide essential financial support to licensed child care providers in Alameda County. This initiative stems from a previous round of one-time grants distributed to over 1,200 eligible licensed small and large Family Child Care (FCC) and Center-based programs in the county, totaling $3.74 million. These funds were allocated from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to recognize the significant role that child care businesses played during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Building upon this support, the BOS has approved an additional $5.9 million (including a $1.3 million carryover from the initial funding) for a total of $7.2 million in child care grants which will be distributed between May 1 and November 1, 2024. The grants are designated for eligible licensed small and large Family Child Care (FCC) and Center-based programs within Alameda County who were operational before June 2021 and continue to be licensed and active.
