Dear Early Childhood Advocates:

As you may know, the Oakland Unified School District is engaged in a search for a new Superintendent, and the OUSD Superintendent search firm, Leadership Associates, has reopened the community input survey form until Friday Jan 24 at 5 pm.

It is critical that OUSD's new leader understand how important early childhood education is to the future of our children, particularly children in poverty. Quality pre-school experiences have been shown to have dramatic impact on children's later academic achievement as well as their social, emotional and physical health.

Tell Them What You Want

The School Board's search firm will take into account our point of view if we take the time to speak out. Please take a moment to complete the community survey. Tell the firm to please look for a leader who understands how to build Early Education into the district's school system, as inequality in early learning experiences is one of the biggest challenges facing this district.

The Survey closes this Friday January 24 @ 5 pm, so fill it out today! It takes only a few minutes to complete but your responses could have an impact on the lives of thousands of Oakland children for years to come.
