Fatherhood 101 Just the Start

The Alameda County Fathers Corps invites you to join us at the Northern California premiere of the film Fatherhood 101 next Thursday, February 6 at Oakland's Grand Lake Theater (see invitation below). LA-based director Marquette Williams will be on hand to talk about his work.
View the trailer and see for yourself the film's powerful emotional impact. This screening is an important step in reminding everyone of the importance of fathers in their children's lives - and the role of government agencies, community organizations and individuals in helping fathers be the best fathers they can be.

Helping Fathers, Strengthening Families

A primary purpose of the Fathers Corps is to increase involvement of fathers in their children's lives by focusing on factors specific to the needs of men and the challenges they face in fulfilling their role as fathers.  Thirty-five Fathers Corps members are more than halfway through a set of monthly trainings on topics essential to effective paternal involvement, including:  Child Development 101, Nutrition and Wellness, the Strengthening Families Framework, Administering the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), Trauma and Its Impact on Child Development, and others. A fuller description of the Fathers Corps is here: http://www.first5alameda.org/alameda-county-fathers-corps. Sponsoring agencies First 5 Alameda County and the Alameda County Public Health Department are currently in the planning stage for year two of the Fathers Corps.  For more information please contact us atFathersCorps@first5alameda.org.

But first, join us for a night at the movies!
