Alamedakids.org - a New Online Resource

These days, when parents look for information, they often go straight to the internet.  By computer or smart phone, the internet is now commonly available to families of all backgrounds. Given this great opportunity, we set out to create a new online one-stop resource for families with children ages birth to 5 years in Alameda County.

AlamedaKids.org seamlessly integrates early childhood information, answers to common questions, and access to resources in Alameda County. The site is available in English and Spanish and is mobile phone accessible.  From January - May 2014, the site was visited by approximately 19,000 unique visitors!

Alamedakids.org offers...

  • Timely, friendly and credible information on child development, learning and behavior - including interactive developmental milestone pages
  • Access to developmental screening using the online Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3)
  • Searchable directory of 250+ county resources for early childhood development and parenting
  • Comprehensive list of family support resources (financial assistance, housing, health, etc.)
  • Calendar of local family-friendly events

Alamedakids.org is still growing. The site was developed in partnership by Help Me Grow Alameda County, Project Launch, Early Connections, First 5 Alameda County and a tremendously helpful group of providers and parents that provided feedback and advice.  Help Me Grow is now in a second phase of expanding content and resources, assessing usability, and increasing communication about the site.

How can I be involved?

  • Use the site in your work!
  • Let families know about the site!
  • If your agency is not in the Resource Directory, you can add it. Email ResourceDirectory@first5alameda.org
  • If you would like to join a new monthly workgroup of providers and family members to help expand and enhance the site, email Julia Ackley.

We hope you enjoy this useful - and expanding - resource for parents and providers in Alameda County!
