Local Food and Support Resources for Alameda County Families and Providers
First 5 is working in partnership with local organizations across Alameda County to support communities, families, young children, and the providers that care for them with information on available food resources.

As the ongoing government shutdown continues to leave families who rely on safety net programs like CalFresh (SNAP), WIC, and school meal services without access to healthy food and warm meals, we are working in partnership with local organizations across Alameda County to support communities, families, young children, and the providers that care for them with information on available food resources. A variety of community food resources—food banks, community pantries, and family resource centers—remain available to ensure families have access to food and essential support during this challenging time.
Find Local Food Resources
Families and caregivers in Alameda County can visit foodnow.net to quickly find nearby food pantries, community meal programs, and grocery distribution sites. By entering a ZIP code, families can view free food resources close to home, along with important details such as hours of operation and any eligibility requirements.
First 5 Alameda County Resources
For families seeking one-on-one support, First 5 Alameda’s Help Me Grow program offers free, confidential assistance for parents and caregivers. Families and providers can call (888) 510-1211 to speak with a member of the Help Me Grow Team, who can help connect them to food programs, child development resources, and other community supports. Staff are available in multiple languages to better serve families.
Families can also find up-to-date information about Food Banks and Food Distribution Resources and other essential services—such as housing, child care, and mental health supports—by visiting the Alameda Kids Resource Directory.
We will continue to update this post as additional food and family resources become available. Our goal is to ensure every family, child, and caregiver has the information and support they need to stay nourished and well.
