First 5 Early Childhood Emergency Grants
These grants are funded by Alameda County taxpayers via Measure C, the Children’s Health and Child Care Initiative. Thanks to the Board of Supervisors vote to approve First 5’s Measure C Plan and Budget on June 10, we can now begin getting urgently needed funds into the community.
The Emergency Grants are designed to help Family Child Care programs and child care centers stay open, buy furniture and supplies, pay their staff, and more. Everyone who is open, eligible, and completes an application and required documentation will receive funding.
For Family, Friend, and Neighbor caregivers (FFNs), there is no application needed. Eligible FFNs will receive funding directly from their Child Care Payment Agency.
Current Grant Opportunities
There are three types of grants available as part of the Measure C-funded emergency grants program:
- Emergency funds for Friend, Family Neighbor caregivers
- Emergency and facilities funds for Family Child Care Programs and Child Care Centers
