Taking Children's Mental Health Seriously

We at First 5 Alameda County urge you to get started, take the quiz, join the dialogue.  Let's all work together to transform mental health for our children.

It Starts with Awareness

May 9 is National Early Childhood Mental Health Awareness Day and the Child Mind Institute created a fun quiz to help draw attention to this critical need. Every question you answer generates a 20-cent donation to the "Speak Up for Kids" campaign, a month-long online dialogue to promote children's mental health and eliminate barriers to care.

And Early Detection

More than 15 million children in America have psychiatric disorders and at least half of them will never receive help -- that's more than leukemia, diabetes, asthma, and AIDS combined!  Early detection of learning disabilities, social and emotional problems, and abuse and neglect at home can lead to early intervention, treatment and care.

So get started. Take the quiz. Join the dialogue.  Help transform mental health care for children.
