Serving Latino Immigrant Families

Do you provide services to Latino immigrant families who have children birth to 5 years old? Then you should know aboutComunidad, a First 5 Alameda County community partner.  Better yet, you should join Comunidad - a place for providers.

Comunidad is extending an enthusiastic invitation to providers working with Latino immigrant families with children 0-5.  This community group is an exciting opportunity to support each other in the joys and challenges of working with Latino immigrant families here in Alameda County.

"Comunidad serves as a vehicle and reminder that helps me validate the work I do in the community. It has helped break the sense of isolation a provider may face in working with disadvantaged communities." (Comunidad participant)

Providers Welcome

Any provider who works with Latino immigrant families in Alameda County, and staff from agency settings such as early intervention programs, childcare, mental health programs and community advocacy organizations, are welcome. Providers are encouraged to bring examples from their work. Comunidad meets monthly for 1.5 hours of facilitated discussion and case reviews.

The objectives of Comunidad include supporting providers working with Latino immigrant families and their children; encouraging provider self-awareness and the impact it can have in their work; providing a supportive environment to develop meaningful interventions promoting family well-being, and offering an ongoing forum for sharing resources that support the community.
