- EDD began taking applications for its Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Program on April 28. Benefits can be retroactive to weeks starting on or after February 2.
- Those unable to work during this time are able to apply for unemployment insurance.
- Those infected by COVID-19 may apply for disability insurance.
- Those unable to work due to caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19 you may qualify for Paid Family Leave (PFL).
US Citizenship and Immigration Services
- US Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced the agency will NOT consider “testing, treatment, nor preventative care (including vaccines, if a vaccine becomes available) related to COVID-19” in a public charge determination “even if such treatment is provided or paid for by one or more public benefits.”

- Operation Comfort for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Hotel rooms provide a safe environment for isolation and recovery.
- High-risk individuals: ACPHD, in alignment with the California Department of Public Health, recognizes people at higher risk include those over age 60, and those with underlying health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, chronic lung diseases [including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, asbestosis, pneumonitis, and other lung conditions], or severely weakened immune systems.
