  • AB 15 Nazarian (D). Children's Savings Account Program. Would express the intent of the Legislature to enact future legislation to establish a statewide children’s savings account program to ensure that children and families save, build assets, and achieve economic mobility. Bill status: In Senate.
  • AB 22 Burke (D). Housing: safe and clean shelter for children. Would declare that it is the policy of the state that every child has the right to safe and clean shelter and that no child should be without safe and clean shelter by 2025. Bill status: Did not make it out of committee.
  • AB 24 Burke (D). Targeted Child Tax Credit. Would declare the Legislature’s intent to enact legislation that would establish a Targeted Child Tax Credit as recommended by the Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Task Force. Bill status: Suspense file.
  • SB 142 Wiener (D). Employees: lactation accommodation. Would require the California Building Standards Commission to adopt prescribed mandatory building standards for the installation of lactation space for employees in nonresidential buildings newly constructed or remodeled for workplace occupancy. Bill status: In Assembly.
  • SB 144 Mitchell (D). Criminal Fees. End the assessment and collection of criminal administrative fees imposed on people in the criminal justice system. Will waive all outstanding debt incurred because of those fees and eliminate the civil assessment penalty. Bill status: Senate Floor.
  • SB 298 Caballero (D). The End Child Poverty Act of 2020. Establishes specific targets to end deep child poverty in four years and reduce child poverty by 50% in CA by 2039. It will also make permanent the Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Taskforce. Bill status: Senate Floor.
  • SB 337 Skinner (D). Child Support Reform Act. Require child support collected to be paid to recipients of CalWORKs benefits and prohibit any of that child support from being considered family income or resources or from being deducted from the amount of aid to which the family is eligible. Bill status: In Senate.
  • AB 378 Limon (D). Childcare: family childcare providers: bargaining representative. Would allow family childcare providers, to form, join, and participate in the activities of provider organizations, and to seek the certification of a provider organization to act as the representative for family childcare providers on matters related to childcare subsidy programs pursuant to a petition and election process overseen by the Public Employment Relations Board or a neutral 3rd party.   • SB 686 Allen (D). The California Promise Neighborhoods Act. Establishes a program for nonprofit organizations to implement a comprehensive continuum of solutions that significantly improve the outcomes and opportunities for children and their families in CA’s most distressed neighborhoods. Bill status: Assembly Floor.
  • AB 732 Bonta (D). County jails: prisons: incarcerated pregnant persons. Protect the rights of pregnant persons in county jails by ensuring timely and appropriate access to prenatal care. Bill status: Suspense file.
  • AB 944 Quirk (D). CalWORKs: Immigration. Require a county to renew the 12-month exception period for additional 12-month periods for a sponsored applicant for, or recipient of, CalWORKs benefits who is deemed to meet the indigence requirement, as specified. Bill status: In Senate.
