Alameda County Medical Center (Highland) received an Intent Certificate from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc.  ACMC has begun training nursing staff on skills needed to implement breastfeeding policy.  Midwives trained by lactation specialists now conduct breastfeeding rounds on the postpartum unit.

Indicator 1: Stronger and with Fewer Behavioral Concerns [more]

Children participating in Summer Pre-Kindergarten camps show readiness skills comparable to other children with formal preschool experience, see Fall 2009 School Readiness Assessment.

 

Slightly less than half (47%) of children sampled in the study entered kindergarten classroom as "All Stars," near-proficient across the board in all four basic building blocks of readiness.
